Information for SAI in NYS

Here is some financial aid information we have gathered on the SAI in NYS. Gathered for first year students.

This is the information I gathered from my financial aid team for first year students.

Pell with 0 SAI - $7,395 max award a year
The maximum Pell Grant award for the 2024–2025 award year, which runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, is $7,395. This amount can be used to pay for school-related expenses at eligible institutions, such as community colleges, career schools, trade schools, and online schools

If you're eligible to receive this grant, your college or university will probably use it to cover whatever you owe, such as fees or the cost of room and board. If there's anything left over, you can receive it in the form of cash or a check. You may also be able to deposit the money directly into your bank account.Mar 28, 2023

TAP varies on numerous circumstances and the award is determined by NYS after reviewing submitted application. The max that can is awarded is $2,800 a year.

The TAP program is administered by the NY State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC). The first step in the TAP application process is the completion of the FAFSA. When you get to the FAFSA on the Web Confirmation Page, there will be a link for New York State residents to complete an application for TAP.

The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps eligible New York residents pay tuition at approved schools in New York State. Depending on the academic year in which you begin study, an annual TAP award can be up to $5,665. Because TAP is a grant, it does not have to be paid back.
